As a mother to 3 teenagers, I am definitely not a stranger to BACK TO SCHOOL.

August 19, 2017

Being a mom is definitely the most rewarding and hardest job anyone could ever have. I'm mom to a 17 year old and a set of 15 year old twins. Back to School is here and while my twins are starting high school and my 17 year old is looking at colleges (OMG! He's a junior!) i still see them as my little babies. Below is a picture I adore. As summer was ending, we took a walk by where their school was. They had so much playing on the playground. My heart melts at the sight of their smiles.

As a hair stylist, one of my favorite memories has to be doing my kids' hair cuts and styles for back to school. It is something to truly treasure. Every year their excitement is different. Every year their personalities, very much like them, grow. As a mother I have seen just how important it is to guide them to seeing themselves in a positive way. To help them learn to take care of themselves and like what they see and who they are.

When they were little I would teach them that their look had to be comfortable for them. To look nice but still be functional and have fun. As they were growing up, like all kids, they wanted to experiment with different cuts and styles. It may sound silly but a good haircut and style really is a natural way for them to find out who they are and what they want to be. They really liked making their own decision and create their own self image. The way they looked at themselves in the mirror said it all.

Today my babies are on their way to becoming grown ups. I couldn't be more proud of the people they are turning into.

Cherish their back to school hair cuts and styles. Bring them in at Salon Sophia and make a memory that will last a lifetime.
